Alta Mira Hotel

Alta Mira Treatment Programs' main building, The Alta Mira Hotel, is a historic structure that is both beautiful and elegant.

The Alta Mira, as it was known in the 1880s, started its life as the private residence of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jackson before being converted into a hotel in 1895. The hotel was almost lost in history when, in December 1926, the hotel succumbed to a devastating fire. Fortunately, Jackson's son, Ernest, had the foresight to rebuild Alta Mira as a Spanish-style villa. This new structure quickly became a favorite place for creativity and leisure, with authors Sterling Hayden, Jack London and Charles Nordhoff penning books while residents of Alta Mira's cottages.

The property continued as a residential hotel until the mid-1950s when the mansion was converted to luxury suites with fireplaces and balconies. In 2003 it was sold and redone as a bed and breakfast and private dining facility before it was reborn as a residential treatment facility in September 2007.

While no longer a luxury hotel, Alta Mira's main building is still luxurious. With six private rooms (each with a private bath), the facility is where most newcomers begin their stay to detox. The building also boasts a beautiful dining area and outdoor patio with stunning Bay Area views.

Details:
  • Six private rooms with private baths
  • For new patients during detoxification, stabilization and orientation to treatment
